Hotel Review
The Fullerton Hotel is one of Singapore’s best-known five-star luxury hotels. The property is conveniently positioned in Singapore’s core business center. Raffles Place is located in the centre of Singapore, directly across the city’s famed Merlion statue and adjacent to the Marina Bay shoreline. Almost a century ago, the Fullerton Hotel Singapore housed Singapore’s post office. This historic hotel is suitable for both leisure and business travellers, with convenient access to major tourist attractions and the central business sector. The hotel’s name honours Robert Fullerton, the first Governor of the Straits Settlements.
Guests that book a stay in Fullertone Hotel, receive a pre-arrival email three days before their stay containing all of the data and information they may need for the duration of their stay. Guests can complete the pre-arrival form, make reservations for the pool, gym, breakfast, or take advantage of the hotel staff’s complimentary tour, a great way to fulfill their free time and discover more about the hotel’s history. There are various room types available, and the receptionist will offer a complimentary upgrade if a room becomes available. The Fullerton Hotel Singapore consists of 399 rooms and suites.
Fullerton Hotel Lobby area
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore has a vast and beautiful foyer. When you walk in, you’re struck by the old-world beauty, with the magnificent spiral staircase in the center serving as the main point. The check-in counters are located on the opposite side of the lobby.
A charming staff member greets arriving guests at the hotel’s entrance, opens the car doors, assists with luggage, and completes the check-in process.
Passing through the lobby and the rest of the building on their approach to the rooms, guests can observe several stunning works of art that add to Fullerton’s rich elegance.
Fullerton’s Hotel rooms
Fullerton’s rooms are divided into two distinct wings: the original and the courtyard ones. There are two sets of elevators: one near the main door and one near the check-in area. Each floor has a sky bridge that connects the wings.
The Fullerton Hotel Marina Bay view rooms include a big and elegant driveway.
While the room is not particularly large, it measures between 36 and 39 square meters, and the magnificent sweeping view from the balcony makes the room appear larger than it is.
The Marina Bay View rooms are popular every year during Formula One and the NDP because of their prime location and breath-taking views of Esplanade Drive, which is flanked by Singapore’s most iconic landmarks. The hotel’s scent permeates the public areas.
The rooms are bright and full of natural light, which complements the soothing tones of the decor. The rooms have a small hallway that leads to the right into the L-shaped main space.
The bathroom is placed near the entryway and is rather spacious. It’s kind of moot to find that only one sink is installed, allowing the counter space to be fully maximised. Amenities from Atkinsons Amber Empire range are available and the floral aroma appears pleasant. Dental kits are also provided, along with high-quality toothbrushes. The clean and rectangular bathrooms have both a standing rainforest shower and a soaking tub. They are definitely spacious enough for two people. Water pressure is excellent, and temperature adjustment is also effective.
The wardrobe room is directly to the left, at the entrance. Spacious, with enough of removable hangers placed on the left side. Two comfortable bathrobes and bath slippers are left inside as well.
Next to it was the luggage rack space, which is neatly integrated into the whole layout. However, larger luggage may struggle to fit in. Above it, there is a cupboard with an extra pillow and a safe. The major space of the room is rectangular.
On the left, a huge Samsung high-quality Smart TV is affixed on the wall. A good selection of cable TV channels can be obtained. Fans of soccer and sports can watch Fox Sports or Mio Sports. Ideal for cheering your team on. The TV also supports Chromecast, and if not, you can easily connect your laptop via HDMI cable for a nice movie night with your companion. A tablet with hotel and room information is located below the television. It also serves as an interface for requests and in-room meals, among other things.
There is also an excellent Harman Kardon speaker in the room. Bluetooth connectivity makes it easy to play your personal Spotify playlist while enjoying these beautiful views. A round table serves as a dining table and a desk in the corner. It is well designed and comfortable. I love the accompanying leather chair. Ideal for those who need to work on holiday. The accommodation has quick and easy Wi-Fi access. The power points are well designed and easily accessible from the table area. They have both regular plugs and USB ports!
There is also an HDMI port here. Full marks! Surprisingly, no care items are left in the room, which is a common practice in hotels. The luxurious king-size bed is located on the opposite side. It is quite comfortable and fluffy. The linens are excellent quality! Four full-size pillows are placed on the bed, and more can be additionaly requested. While there is no official pillow menu in the hotel, upon request, the receptionist inquires for a softer or harder preferance. The pillows are little disappointing, since they are far too fluffy and flimsy. Nightstands with built-in electronic controls can be found on both sides of the bed. Both USB outlets and standard sockets are available here. A fullystocked minibar is situated on the side of the room. In addition to Nespresso coffee and TWG teas, packaged water is offered for free. They are replenished during the turndown service. The primary feature of this type of room is the view and the balcony! A good size, not one of those narrow ones where you can’t stretch out. The balcony is suitable for nearly every occasion throughout your stay. Two chairs have been placed here as well. The side walls here are well designed. At a good height, it is difficult to view the next door guests unless you stretch out on the balcony. The double-layered glass door leading out to the balcony effectively protect the space from the outside traffic noise.
Fullerton Hotel Executive lounge
Fullerton’s elite lounge is called the Straits Club, in keeping with its colonial history. Guests who reserve a Club Room or Suite receive Straits Club privileges. Benefits include 24-hour personal service, in-room registration, complimentary daily Chandon breakfast, afternoon tea, canapés and evening cocktails, preferential laundry rates, pressing service for up to two items and late check-out. You can also book a meeting room for up to two hours. Located on Level 4, on the courtyard side, the lounge is quite a trendy and cozy space that serves a daily breakfast buffet from 6:30am to 11am, afternoon tea from 2:30pm to 4:30pm and evening snacks and cocktails from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
The cuisine and service are simply superb. If you really want to pamper yourself, champagne is served with breakfast. Enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee and relax in one of the balcony chairs while admiring the vista. Afternoon tea is provided from 3 p.m. There is no menu; the chef determines what to serve each day. Plain and raisin scones are served on a cake stand with strawberry jam, spreadable cream, and other delicacies. The Muffin Man Tea Shop in Kensington has the warmest, butteriest, and flakiest scones in Singapore.
You can also get open sandwiches with shrimp salmon and egg mayonnaise cocktails, as well as sweet snacks like carrot cake, red bean cake and kueh lapis. A selection of soft drinks is served with your afternoon tea. No alcoholic drinks are served here during afternoon tea. A selection of soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea are available. The staff is exceptional and attentive, always keeping in mind the guest’s beverage preferences. The tea collection is one of the best around and can easily compete with the TWG Tea Lounge; there are 13 options including Jasmine Pearls, Pai Mu Tan, Geisha Blossom Napoleon and Alfonso.
Breakfast at Fullerton Hotel
Breakfast is now available only in the Town Restaurant, which also serves Straits Club guests. The Straits Club only serves breakfast on Sundays, most likely to accommodate the overflow, as most local customers come for weekend staycations. Breakfast is served in three hourly seatings at 7.30am, 8.30am, and 9.30am. Reservations are made, and your preferences will be noted on the pre-arrival form. However, allocations are weakly enforced during low occupancy periods.
Fullerton Hotel Pool
The Fullerton Pool is a must-visit during your trip. The pool, like the gym, is positioned on level 1M and provides a spectacular view of the Singapore River and the Boat Quay area. It is an imposing yet tranquil oasis. The capacity is limited to 24 people, and bookings are required in 1.5-hour intervals between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., which guests can make three days before their stay after receiving the pre-arrival email. The pool has a depth of 1.2 metres. There are a few tables and sunbeds at the pool, and they are all first come, first served.
Fullerton Hotel Fitness and Spa
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore boasts stunning spa and fitness facilities. The workout center was packed with equipment and rarely had anyone in it. Everything, from the weight machines to the changing rooms’ amenities, is of the highest quality. The fitness area is located on level 1M and is accessible via the same set of elevators as the pool, which is in the same wing as the hotel’s main entrance. The gym is currently open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and requires prior bookings. This can be completed when you receive the pre-arrival email. There are steam rooms and dry saunas as well.
Fullerton Hotel Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar
The Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar is located on the top floor of the Fullerton Hotel. The restaurant’s dining room has a breathtaking view of Marina Bay. Waiters are true experts that provide excellent hospitality during the visit. Window seats are highly recommended. The bar, located a floor above the restaurant, is open air, which adds to the mood.
Fullerton Hotel Monument Heritage Tour
One of the hotel’s distinguishing features is that it offers complimentary heritage tours to customers who stay there. All guests are welcome to participate, and you can even reserve your slots with the concierge ahead of time. There are currently two tours active. The Fullerton Monument Tour available on Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. and 11.15 a.m., as well as on Saturday from 3.45 p. m. The Maritime Journey Tour runs on Fridays at 3.45pm and 5pm, and on Sundays at 10am and 11.15am. Each tour has a limit of ten people. The Fullerton Monument Tour takes roughly an hour. The tour is supposed to highlight the history and distinctive regions of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. The hotel hires professional tour guides to offer the tours, which begin with a short stroll around the streets, learning about the history of the neighboring houses and the Singapore River, followed by a walk around the lobby area, where the tour guide demonstrates how the hotels have been adapted to what they are now. If you’re available, certainly join up! It’s a fun alternative to eating and lounging by the pool during your staycation. As a conclusion, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is a superlative luxury hotel in every way.
